Indigenous Voices Feature: Forest, a Garden We Cultivate
Mari Corrêa | Brazil | 2023 | 42 min
Original version with English subtitles

The effects of a changing climate are being felt by the indigenous population of the Amazon region. They live in and with the forest and have known it for hundreds of years. Their forest areas were unlimited, but they knew its limits and needs. In the 16th century, the Europeans arrived and began to cross these boundaries. For them, the forest was the instrument of progress and development and its population its obstacle. The film tells the story of a struggle for rights and life. It calls for the forest, its inhabitants and their unique knowledge to be respected and protected.
